Whatever your thing is, the most effective method of managing stress in my experience is exercising the tension out of your body. One session of active exercise and one session of yoga (I find vinyasa "flow" yoga the most effective!) / stretching per week makes a massive difference to the build up of excessive stress, which helps you sleep better and perform better in day to day life.

Usually when I'm busy and stressed out, the first thing I cut to save time is exercise. But it just makes the stress worse and more difficult to sleep. I try to remember to make time for exercise and cut something else from my schedule.
