What is a hickey?

A hickey, or love bite, is basically a bruise that's caused when a person sucks or aggressively kisses the skin of another person. While it provides an incredible feeling to the giver as well as the receiver, it also leaves a huge stamp to remind you of the friskiness. Sucking on someone's neck in particular will leave a small red bruise that is referred to as a love bite. It's made up of lots of tiny blood vessels that you break when sucking, so it's pretty hard to hide!

How to give someone a hickey

A hickey isn’t a guys or a girls only thing. You remember those high school nights? Most couples loved to put a hickey on their partner’s neck, but it only proved to be more difficult to hide from parents! A hickey is produced when the lips break blood vessels by sucking on someone's neck. Hickeys appear very quickly on sensitive areas like the neck, lips, nose, cheeks, belly and thighs.

How long do hickeys last?

This usually depends on a person’s skin. Hickeys may last for up to 2 or 3 days on some people while on other people it can last for a week. The darkness of the hickey mark can also determine how long it can last. Try patting some concealer or foundation to conceal and hide the hickey if you want it covered up.
