What is ‘Tired’ vs ‘Wired’ when it comes to Chronic Fatigue?
Submitted by:
The concept of feeling ‘tired and wired’ is used largely around CFS. ‘Tired and wired’ basically feels exactly like it sounds – feeling of being drained and having no energy, but our mind and our nervous system feel over stimulated. It’s when we’re trying to rest physically, but we feel agitated. Many things can influence ‘tired and wired’ – when we go into a crash, we run out of normal energy and go into nervous energy.
What You'll Need
- Do whatever you can to calm down the ‘wired’.
What You'll Do
- If we take the ‘wired’ out of ‘tired and wired’, we then have normal energy and are left with just the feeling of tiredness. However this is a good feeling of tiredness as it is one that we can rest and relax into – a healing state.
- When we’re wired, we can’t rest and heal, so in order to stay in a healing state and manage symptoms of CFS, we must listen to our bodies and recognise that we can use normal energy on an upward curve and need to rest when we are o a downward curve.
Tips & Warnings
