In Ayurveda, ginger is know as the 'universal medicine' because it is practically a pharmacy in itself. For indigestion, it is recommended to chew a piece of ginger before meals with a little salt on it to stimulate the digestion and the gut. You can also add ginger to food to making it easier to digest and help control any flatulence, trapped gas or bloating.
