Just because you're off track, doesn't mean you're off path.
When that feeling of anxiety arises that you're so far off your path, check in with yourself. Are you really completely off path, or just took a different turn? I see this in my own meditation practice. When I go days without sitting, I feel completely off my calm path. Usually, it just takes one turn back to the cushion to realize I wasn't that far at all. My dad used to always remind me when I feel lost, to remember I'm always home, perhaps just not paying attention enough to realize.
