Time for a cold shower! Cryotherapy is the use of low temperatures to treat tissue damage. Its goal is to decrease inflammation, pain and spasm and to promote the constriction of blood vessels. This is a method adopted by elite athletes and sporting teams, in the form of ice baths. The good news – science agrees! A large number of studies have concluded that this method enhances muscle recovery by restricting the inflammatory process. In plain terms, take a cold shower post-workout to aid muscle recovery and combat those aches and pains.
