There is a lot of talk these days about the power of kindness and how giving to others improves our own wellbeing. It certainly does, try being grumpy and angry when you have just given someone a present, or being sad when you know you have enhanced someones day. However as a scientist I am interested in the detail of these trust and the fact is that for the MAXIMUM impact we need to commit to POWER-GIVING which is doing many random acts of kindness in a short period of time. The timeframe and number of actions advised below is the evidence-based 'prescription' for having optimal impact on - your physical health (immunity, cardiovascular strength will improve), - your social health (relationships, sense of connection and compassion will be enhanced), - your mental health (you will be happier, more adaptable and more able to navigate challenges with energy and ease!)
