Computer and phone screen emit a blue light which suppresses the release of melatonin in the brain. Melatonin is the hormone which helps us to feel sleepy. Keep away from screens for an hour before bedtime to ensure that the blue light doesn't keep you awake. Or you could try installing a software called Flux on your computer which gives your screen an orange tinge (instead of the blue light). This means it won't suppress your melatonin levels.

What You'll Need

  • To help you keep away from screens an hour before bed, Flux installed on your computer:
  • A lot of smartphones now also have an option where you can change the light to nightlight- its a little less bright but means that you are not exposed to the blue light on your mobile.
