Think of a plane as like a boat, or like a shark
A boat, unless something goes horribly wrong is unlikely to sink spontaneously. A shark, unless something goes horribly wrong is not going to plummet to the bottom of the ocean. A plane, unless something goes terribly wrong is not going to fall out of the sky. If something goes terribly wrong, there is unfortunately not much one can do about it. The physics of flying should be reassuring. Think of turbulence as like waves on the sea - just as waves are extremely unlikely to make a boat sink, turbulence is unlikely to make a plane fall out of the sky. There are very good safety measures when you fly, just as there are for other means of transport.
