Whenever I feel nervous, like before a meeting where I have to speak to a large group of people, or even meeting new clients, I always remember what my sister taught me. Breathing exercises can really help you take control of your emotions, fears and even the shakes! So now, when I know I have 10 minutes before I have to face the fact, I go to a quiet spot and sit by myself. Start by taking 3 deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth. Then, I count to 20, very slowly. With each count, I take a big breath in and out again. Doing this for only 20 counts really calms my nerves and makes me feel like I have control over my body again.

What You'll Need

  • A quiet spot
  • 10 minutes max

What You'll Do

  • Take big Breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth 3 times
  • Count to 20 and take bigger breaths with each count
  • Take your time and make sure you are in control of your mind and body before you leave your quiet spot
  • Go confidently!

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you control your breathing, you don't want to pass out! Take things slow and focus on your breath for the entire 20 count.
