Defiantly doesn't work for everyone, but for me, if I shower with very hot water it creates an illusion that you are scratching your body so that it gives some relief. This stops you physically scratching and so helps. After showering follow up with a heavy body cream, like Aquaphor.

What You'll Need

  • Aquaphor
  • Very hot shower

What You'll Do

  • Very hot shower and then put on aquaphor cream or some kind of equivalent

While I agree that very hot water creates an illusion that you are scratching your body and is somewhat relieving (for as long as you're in the shower), this overheats the body and becomes counter productive. Lukewarm water works better.
