Don't break the splinter!
When you are you trying to take out the splinter, be really careful that you don't break the splinter as then when it is smaller it is so much harder to remove. This happened to my mother nd she told me how painful it was so this tip is really about safety measures and process! Make sure that you take your time and do things slowly and carefully.
