Bloating is often caused by foods that are fermenting in your gut and not being properly digested. Every person has a unique biology and it varies from person to person which foods are troublesome. Common offenders include: gluten/grains, dairy, nuts, legumes, some raw vegetables and fruits and artificial sugar. A simple way to cut down on bloating form grains, nuts and legumes is by soaking them in water before cooking them. Try cooking your veggies and even fruits to assist with the digestive process. Gut-supportive options you can add to your diet to aid digestion include: yogurt (full-fat with no added sweeteners or fruits), kefir, sauerkraut, kimchee, pickles, and miso. Not all brands are created equal, however, so check the label to make sure they are fermented and pro-biotic rich.
