Cutting the ties: An exercise

Draw or print a picture of a body out on paper. Write around the body every negative or unhelpful thing you say about yourself. Draw a connecting line to where you feel it, hear it or think it in your body so that everything you say is connected in some way to the body on the paper. When you've done this take your time to visualise each and every one of the sayings and feel each in your body. Do them one at a time. When you can fully feel it ask yourself to release the power, pressure or energy that it contains and free it to leave your body. Go through the whole list until it's complete. When you've done each one cut around the body and release each of the 'cords' that have tied you to the emotion. Then you can burn / discard or dispose of the left overs.
