Rid yourself of Sunday blues
We've all experienced that Sunday night dread and the better the weekend the tougher it seems to be. That anxious knot in the tummy, that flight response kicking in telling us all the places or things we could be doing instead of going to work/ school / college tomorrow. Well based on my own personal experience and feedback from my clients I have established three techniques that can really help. Let us know what you think.
What You'll Need
- Cup of tea
- Pen and paper
What You'll Do
- Get excited - Get a cup of tea, piece of paper and a pen and write down 3-5 things you are looking forward to next week. Doesn't need to be complicated and it can be big or small.
- Use distraction - Plan a cosy evening. By cozy I mean, what makes your soul cozy? Whether it's spending time watching a film with a loved one, making a delicious meal, doing some exercise, having a bath, visiting a friend, etc.
- Get prepared - Get your clothes ready and maybe make up tomorrow's lunch or even prepare a yummy breakfast to get you geared up in the morning
- Breathe through it - If anxiety does strike, use the breathing techniques. These are outlined in my anxiety health tip but one of my favourite simple breathing techniques is the balloon breathing. Visualising you have a balloon in your belly which you are slowly filling up on the inhale and then slowly letting all the air out of on the exhale. Do this for as many breaths as needed.
