My Simple 4 Point Plan to Productivity

Whats stopping you from being more productive? What could you achieve if you could just focus on one thing at a time, without distractions? I have a 4 point plan to help you be more productive and help keep procrastination and overwhelm at bay. Give it a go and let me know how you get on.

  • Keep your phone off for as long as possible in the morning. Now before you freak out, I have been doing this as a test for the last few weeks and the mornings I leave my phone off or leave it on airplane mode until getting to work or sometimes even until lunchtime (yes I have actually done this!) were my most productive mornings. I also noticed I was in a better mood too.
  • Cut down your to-do list. Yay!! Let's do less, to do more... wait a minute that doesn't make any sense. Cut your immediate to-do list down to the three most important things you need to do in order to succeed. You can always add three more when those are done. By doing this is forces you to think about what the most urgent and important things are to do and enables you to focus on those without getting overwhelmed by the whole of your to do list.
  • 3. Group similar tasks together Stop multi-tasking. I know it's a woman's best asset but not when you're trying to get shit done it's not. According to Forbes, "Changing tasks more than 10 times a day drops your IQ an average of 10 points." WTF?! WHo wants an IQ drop of 10 points, not me! So I recommend grouping similar tasks together. For example, Do all your writing tasks together in one block, emails, blog posts, proposals, newsletters, write them all at once. Book all your phone calls back to back in blocks, have all your face to face meetings in one day of the week. I know this isn't always practical but see if you can do it as it makes life much more productive and saves your IQ too. Win,win!
  • 4. Use the morning to focus on yourself! Have a list of a few things you love to do that make you feel amazing and make them your morning routine. Mine includes a mix of the following depending what mood I'm in and whether I'm single or not. - Morning pages or gratitude journal - EFT rounds - Yoga - Meditation - Sex (makes me feel good!) - Skipping or HIIT (only exercise I enjoy) - Nice hot shower You don't have to do everything, every morning and stress yourself out. Just pick the one you're feeling that day.
