Brain freeze is brought on by a rapid increase in blood flow through a major blood vessel into the brain. Researchers believe that the rush of cold blood causes the blood vessels to dilate and produces an intense pain as their blood vessels first open and close. The best way to reduce brain freeze is to stop eating the cold food and drink warm water. Warm water will help increase the temperature in your mouth.
