Got itchy eyes this hay fever season? Or perhaps that scratchy, itchy roof of your mouth / back of the throat with your hay fever? In Chinese Medicine we differentiate between the various symptoms and types of hay fever, so we can get you feeling better much more quickly. This kind of hay fever indicates there is Heat in the system, so we seek to COOL things down. A home remedy I tell my patents about is chamomile tea. According to Chinese Food Energetics, it has a cooling energetic affect on the body, even if you drink the tea warm! It also has an affect on the Lungs, helping the immune system with batting off the pollen. The Lungs are connected to our defensive (Wei) Qi in Chinese Medicine, and if this is strong (or supported by dietary additions like chamomile tea) then you will get less hay fever symptoms overall! It's a win-win remedy, treating symptoms and boosting the body, with a two for the price of one application - drinking the tea, then using the tea bags afterwards.

What You'll Need

  • Chamomile tea bags; boiled water

What You'll Do

  • Drink chamomile tea (not boiling hot) to treat systemic hay fever symptoms, reducing itchy throat etc
  • Allow chamomile tea bags to cool down
  • Use the COLD chamomile tea bags on your itchy eyes to relieve symptoms
