How to keep your teeth white
1. Maintain good oral hygiene. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing regularly will help to remove plaque and bacteria. Try to choose a toothpaste contains fluoride as this helps to protect your teeth. 2. Avoid Eating or Drinking products which stain your teeth such as coffee, tea and red wine. Cutting down on these kinds of drinks will help reduce staining, however you may want to consider using a straw to avoid contact with the front of your teeth. Brushing your teeth straight after consuming anything that is likely to stain your teeth will also help. 3. Whitening toothpaste can help to remove surface stain, however these types of toothpaste contain abrasive materials which if overused or used over long periods of time can damage the surface of your tooth. Whitening toothpaste also offers very limited results. 4. Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco. Tobacco has a number of chemicals such as tar and nicotine which can cause yellowish stains on the surface of your teeth. Cutting down or quitting completely will help to prevent further staining. 5. If you do choose to whitening your teeth - I would recommend professional teeth whitening which is overseen by a dentist and helps to lift the stains. This can be done at home or in clinic with laser whitening. Results will vary depending on the degree of staining and can last up to 2 years with good care.
