There are plenty of ways to whiten your teeth, some more effective than others. As a dentist, I patient's who've used everything from whitening tooth paste to laser whitening. Here are my top tips for patients when considering teeth whitening.

What You'll Need

  • Seek the advice of a registered dentist

What You'll Do

  • I would normally recommend seeking the advice of a registered dentist to ensure that you are in good oral health for teeth whitening and have considered your options with a professional.
  • If you do choose an over the counter option, I would recommend reading reviews and ingredients as some products can cause or exacerbate teeth sensitivity.
  • If you are using a product which contains bleach or peroxide, please check the label as to the percentage of the gel. The strength of these gels is highly regulated in the UK, over the counter gels can not exceed 0.1% peroxide, while those precribed by a dentist can range up to 6%.
